The Episcopal Commission for the Social Pastoral
The Episcopal Commission for the Social Pastoral (CEPS), is an instance of service of the Mexican Episcopal Conference, which has a specific serving commission to the Episcopal collegiality and the communion of the Particular Churches in all the tasks related to the Social Pastoral, constitutive dimension of the evangelizing action of the Church.
The Episcopal Commission for the Social Pastoral, is organized into seven dimensions that, with common tasks and their own tasks, have the mission of promoting and stimulating the social commitment of the Catholics and of all men and women of good will, to promote the dignity of the human person, this, through practice of the virtues of charity and justice.
By its very nature, the Episcopal Commission for the Social Pastoral is subsidiary. It is not involved in the execution of local projects, it promotes, provides and supports them, but it does not execute them. Its task has more to do with the accompaniment of strengthening, articulating and linking processes of the own tasks of the social pastoral in the Ecclesiastical Provinces and Dioceses.
The specific tasks of the Episcopal Commission for the Social Pastoral are: ongoing discernment of the reality, the study and the dissemination of the Social Doctrine of the Church, as well as, the production of theological and pastoral subsidies, this, to stimulate the training and social commitment, in particular of the laity.
The Episcopal Commission for the Social Pastoral also has as task of service, the articulation of ecclesial efforts for the social evangelization and also, establishing links with the public service in accordance to its mission. As a service instance it is permanently aware of the necessities of the Bishops and of the Particular Churches in the field of the social evangelization.
It is promoter of ecclesial and social subjects that make present the Kingdom of God in all areas of human life.
